New tree
A nursery tree planted at the right depth, watered in, and staked only if the site is exposed.
Tree planting and transplanting in Launceston has to suit frost, wet winters, and the space the tree will want in twenty years. Arborist Launceston helps you pick a species that fits the yard, then plants it so the roots are not buried too deep.
Transplanting is only offered when the tree is still small enough to move without destroying it. A mature elm is not a transplant.
Call +61 483 709 394 if you are replacing a tree we removed, or planting a screen.

Trees chosen and planted for Launceston's frost and wet winters, plus transplanting when the size still makes it realistic. The written quote names the trees, the method, and what happens to the debris.
If the brief is actually a different service, we say so before a crew is booked. Call +61 483 709 394 with the suburb and a photo of the whole tree.

A nursery tree planted at the right depth, watered in, and staked only if the site is exposed.

A smaller species where a large gum or elm was removed and should not be repeated.

Several trees spaced so they do not become one crowded hedge of trunks.

A young tree moved within the property when the root ball can be kept intact.
A tree placed so it does not sit under the eaves in ten years.
Set back from the path and the power lines.
Shifted off a future driveway while it is still liftable.
Each row is a different decision. The quote names which of these apply to your tree.
| Finish | Characteristics | Typical applications | Considerations |
|---|---|---|---|
| Species | Matched to the site | Frost-hardy for Launceston, and the mature size named. | We will not plant a forest tree a metre from a wall. |
| Depth | Root collar at soil level | Not sunk in a deep hole. | Buried trunks rot. This is the mistake we plant to avoid. |
| Stake | Only if it needs it | Summerhill wind, or a loose root ball. | A stake is removed once the tree holds itself. |
| Water | The first season | You water. We show you how much. | We do not pretend a tree establishes with one bucket. |
| Mulch | Away from the trunk | A ring, not a volcano of mulch. | Mulch against the bark keeps it wet. |
| Transplant limit | Size and season | Young trees, cool weather. | If it is too big, we say plant a new one instead. |
The spread in twenty years, not the size in the pot.
Low Invermay yards are colder than a Trevallyn slope.
Plant away from drains and the sewer.
A screen is useful. A tree that will fill their light is a conversation first.
We rule out trees that will outgrow the yard.
You can supply it, or we can include a nursery tree in the quote.
Hole, depth, water, mulch, stake if needed.
Watering through the first Launceston summer.
Otherwise we recommend a new tree.
For a proper hole, not a pot-shaped socket.
Soft ties, removed later.
The tree is watered in before we leave.

A smaller deciduous tree set well off the house.

Spaced so each crown has room, not one tight row.

Moved off a planned driveway while the root ball still held.
These describe the sort of brief we take. They are not claimed as a photographed portfolio.
We travel to the suburbs listed on this site. The tree and the access still decide the quote.
Older hillside streets east of the city centre, with established gardens and large deciduous trees close to weatherboard and brick houses. Sloping driveways change how a limb can be lowered.
View detailsBlocks along the gorge and Trevallyn reserve are steep. Tall trees stand over roofs, and crane or rope access is often tighter than on a flat suburban lot.
Request a quoteOlder residential streets with mature garden and street trees, narrower frontages, and canopies that meet roofs, paths, and overhead lines.
Request a quoteFamily homes south of the city, a mix of brick and weatherboard, and backyards that often have room for a stump grinder where the side gate is wide enough.
Request a quoteLarger mid-century blocks toward the east, with big exotic trees, outbuildings, and driveways sitting under wide canopies.
Request a quoteLow-lying ground near the North Esk. Yards are smaller, soil stays wet after rain, and roots often run beside drains, paths, and fences.
Request a quoteAn elevated western ridge with more wind exposure. Younger street trees sit beside older pines and gums, and many driveways slope.
Request a quoteA western growth area. Newer estates have small planted trees, while older streets still hold large gums close to new builds that were kept during subdivision.
Request a quoteCompact yards near the university and the racecourse. Street trees, rental houses, and narrow side access are the usual limits on the job.
Request a quoteAn established eastern suburb with mature gardens, elms and other exotic trees, and limbs that cross fences onto neighbouring properties.

View servicePlanting is priced per tree plus any nursery stock. Transplanting costs more because of the root ball and the risk, and we will decline it when the tree is too large.
| Plant a supplied tree | Labour, staking if needed, and watering in |
|---|---|
| Tree included | Nursery price plus planting |
| Transplant on the same block | Only while the tree is still small enough |
Any figure is indicative. The price you pay is the written quote after a site visit.
Request a quoteSpecies that take frost and wet winters, and that stay smaller than the yard. We name options on site rather than from a national list.
Usually no. Past a certain size the roots will not travel. We would rather tell you that than kill it.
Through the first summer, deeply and less often, not a daily sprinkle. We show you at planting.
We plant it correctly. Drought, a mower, or a change of soil is outside that. Dead trees from a planting error are a conversation. We do not sell a lifetime guarantee.
Far enough for the mature canopy. We measure that before the hole is dug.
Launceston frosts and wet winters rule out a lot of mainland favourites. The right tree is one that will still fit the fence, the wall, and the wires when it is grown, not the one that looks full in the nursery pot.
We plant with the root collar at soil level. A deep hole that buries the trunk is how young trees fail. Mulch sits in a ring off the bark. A stake is used on a windy Summerhill site or a loose root ball, and it comes off once the tree holds itself.
Watering through the first summer is yours. We show you what deep watering means at planting. We do not sell a lifetime guarantee against drought, a mower, or a change of mind about the species.
A young tree can be moved on the same block if the root ball stays intact and the weather is cool. A mature elm in Norwood or a large gum in Prospect is not a transplant. We will say plant a new one rather than kill the old one slowly.
After a removal, do not drop the replacement into pure stump chips. Mix or remove the chips first. The spot should also be further from the house than the tree you took out, if that tree was the problem.

We will say whether this service is the right one before you book a crew.
